Brecken's Surgery

Today Brecken had surgery. We found out in November that his right testicle was undescended. (I had suspected this when he was 6 months old but our Doctor in Rexburg assured me it was there...) Usually this is resolved with surgery before the child is 1 but since we didn't know we were very late in getting it done. The Doctors here in STL gave us very little hope, 1% chance that the testicle would still be viable. The surgery he was scheduled for is called an Orchioectomy (removal of the atrophic testicle). We have been praying for the best possible outcome and that if possible Brecken could be made whole. Kaile gave Brecken a beautiful blessing this morning. We went to the hospital comforted and full of hope that God's will would be done. We had the most wonderful nurses and our pediatric uroligist is the best in the state. He got all prepped for surgery and had some medicine to sedate him a little.

Getting loopy/tired before they wheeled him back.

They wheeled him back and Kaile and I just continued to pray for his safety and health. They called us 30 minutes later to tell us surgery had started. About 15 minutes after that we recieved another call from his nurse telling us that the "right testicle looked to good to take out."  I just broke into tears. God heard our prayers and we witnessed a miracle!
The surgery changed to a Orchioplexy ( bringing the undescended testicle down into the scrotum and fixing it there). Kaile and I talked about how blessed we are and how through Faith all things are possible. The surgery ended and we were able to be with Brecken as he came out of the anethesia. He did not come out of it well and was thrashing and kicking and screaming. As a mom that is so hard to watch...  He settled down after 30 minutes, drank some blue slushy and we went back to his recovery room. Once there he ate more food, watched Mickey Mouse, and cuddled with me on the bed. His Doctor came in to talk to us and said that the right testicle was healthy, and had all the right parts and blood supply so he couldn't take it out. It is definitely smaller than the other one but with time and more room it should be fine. We are very hopeful that there will be no complications and that everything will turn out for his good. Thank you for your prayers on behalf of Brecken those of you that knew and did not know. Our testimony of God the Father and Jesus Christ have been strengthen through this experience and we praise Their names.

I too felt good about it that day as I prayed for him also. Another reminder, that with God, all things are possible. Much love.
