Mailey at 2 Months

On October 13 Mailey had her 2 month appointment. She weighed 11.5 lbs. and was 22.25 inches long. She is about 50th percentile for both. She is starting to smile and coo. She is the sweetest baby. She is such a daddy's girl... Kaile puts his face about 10 inches from hers and she just smiles and is sooo happy!!! She is sleeping about 6 to 7 hours at night... I love only having to get up once a night. She eats about every 4 hours during the day. She had been having some tummy troubles so she is on a mixture of gas drops and gripe water (fennel and ginger) to help her. She is doing really great now:) She loves her tongue and is always sticking it out and making faces, she is very expressive. She has little chubby cheeks and some hair- it is really light but is coming in more and more. Brecken loves her and is such a good big brother. He prays for her at night and always calls her by her full name - Mailey Jane. Her nicknames are sweetie girl, Mailey girl, little lady, miss Mailey and Mailey moe. We sure love our Mailey girl:)

Month in Utah

From June 13th until July 11th Brecken and I got to go to Utah.
Brecken did good on the flight out... the lady next to us had an IPad and Brecken won her over in 2 seconds with his blue eyes and "can I play a game, peeese?"
Grammie met us at the airport and we almost got killed getting off the escalator because a man at the top dropped his bag. I had to grab Brecken and run/jump the last few steps so we didn't get hit... Fun way to start a trip:)
Some highlights of our trip:

  • I got to celebrate Fathers Day with my dad for the first time in probably 5 years, which was great.
  • My mom and sister threw me a baby shower for Mailey... we got totally spoiled!
  • We spent a week at Park City Mountainside - swimming and playing and eating to our hearts desire. Went boating twice and the weather was amazing!
  • Played and had a fire up at the Little Cottonwood Cabin.
  • Celebrated the 4th of July: Brecken walked in a local parade with Uncle Carter and Jane & we had a fireworks show(thanks to Carters pyrotechnics) and lit sparklers.
  • Went to a Bee's Game where my big brother surprised my mom for her birthday by flying in from Virginia for the weekend.
  • Celebrated my mom's birthday with family and friends at The Roof (thanks dad).

After all the fun Brecken and I flew back home to St. Louis. Kaile was sure glad we were back and has since told me we can't ever be gone for longer than 3 weeks... he missed us:)

Mailey Jane Myrick

Our little Mailey Jane was born on August 13, 2013 at 5:58 pm via emergency C-section.
She weighed 7 lbs 7oz and was 20 inches long... pretty good for being 3 weeks early:)
Kaile and I went to Mercy Hospital to have a procedure done to try to flip her from being breech... Its called an external version and usually it is about 75% effective in flipping a breech baby. Because there can be complications it is always done in the hospital with monitors and access to the O.R. just in case. They started the procedure at 5:45 and everything was going smoothly. They got her to transverse (horizontal) and took a break. When they started to push on her again her heartbeat went from 140 to 40 in seconds, which is bad!!! Everyone got real big eyes and my doctor says to me "We are gonna go have a baby". I was just in shock and Kaile was in shock and everything happened so fast that the next thing I remember is being wheeled to the O.R. and having a mask put on because there was no time for an epidural. I kept asking for Kaile but he couldn't be in there because he wasn't scrubbed down.
I woke up in the recovery room and Kaile tells me we have a beautiful baby girl that is fine but in the NICU with a CPAP for her lungs. I got to see her in the NICU for a little while and then they took me to my aftercare room. She was taken off the CPAP and started breathing fine after 12 hours but she stayed in the NICU for 3 days because she had a hard time coming off her glucose drip. I recovered for 4 days at the hospital and she got to room in with me for the last day and night which was amazing!!! We were both released on Saturday and have been taking in slow and getting lots of rest at home.

Brecken is the best big brother!!!

Getting ready to go home

She does have hair... its just really blonde

Sweetie Girl

Already to go home (Brecken was at a sitter because it took us forever to get discharged from the hospital)

Looking back we were both just so unprepared for the way she was born... The only thing we brought with us was Kaile's phone. Seriously it was just such a surprise - no bags packed, no overnight sitter for Brecken, nothing!!! Luckily we have amazing friends, ward members, and home/visiting teachers. Everyone rallied around us and helped with Brecken while Kaile had class/finals and while I have been recovering. It has now been 2 weeks since Mailey was born and she is doing great. She weighs 8 lbs and is 21 inches long. I am feeling good... I am off of my pain pills and getting back to feeling more normal. Kaile has a 2 weeks break from Logan College of Chiropractic and then my mom will be coming out. just wanted to say thanks to all the people who have helped us and for all the prayers on our behalf. We have been well taken care of and the Lord is so mindful of our unique situation and needs.

Brecken turns 3!!!

Brecken turned 3 on August 7th. That day we celebrated as a family and he got to blow out a candle on a cupcake 3 times:)  I really cant believe that he is three. He is the sweetest boy and is officially potty trained. He starts a little preschool in September and he is so excited to go to school like daddy does.

On August 9th (friday) Brecken had his first real birthday party at a park close by our house... with friends, presents, and cake!!! I did a car themed party because thats what Brecken wanted and I think I did a pretty good job throwing my first birthday party...

The cake!!!

Right afterwards he grabbed one of the cars and started vrooming it on the track it was sooooooo awesome and I totally missed it on the movie!

When I asked Brecken what he wanted for his birthday all he would ever tell me was "play with friends, a remote control car and a big digga with a scoop". He did great opening presents and was very polite, Ava was his present opening helper:)

Lots of friends

West Palm Beach 2013

We went to Florida for a week of sand and sun with my parents during Kaile's trimester break from Logan Chiropractic. We had an amazing time! Only one day of rain and a little heat rash, so we can't complain. We flew down on Saturday April 27th and flew home on May 4th. We enjoyed staying at Marriott Ocean Pointe right on the beach. It had everything we could possibly want: Mini Golf, Pools, Hot Tubs, Saunas, Eat in Kitchens, BBQ Grills, Kids Activities and more! Brecken is quite the little swimmer. He did swim lessons before we went and I got him a floaty so he was seriously a fish. We found some awesome local places to eat out but ate in most of the time. Brecken and Grammie are best friends and were almost inseparable:)
