Dr. Watson told me he would strip my membranes to see if that got anything started and that we could set an induction date for the 9th. I then worried and stressed the whole day because nothing was happening and because I found out that if you get induced you are more likely to have to have a c-section. So, I put it in God's hands and just accepted that he would come when the time was right.
At 11:00 p.m. I got up from watching T.V. and whoosh, my water broke. I was just in complete shock because I had accepted that he wasn't going to come for at least another week. Kaile started running around the apartment like a chicken with his head cut off and was asking me what we needed to do. Luckily I had a bag packed and off we went to the hospital. Once we got there they checked me into a exam room and made sure that my water really did break... it did:) They hooked me up to some monitors and the nurse told me I was dilated to a 3 and was having contractions every couple minutes.
I guess my body is weird or I am really lucky because I couldn't feel any contractions... when I did start to feel them later it was more like a cramp then a real tightening. Anyways, they moved me to my delivery room and I ate some applesauce and tried to get some sleep. The nurse kept checking on me every hour or so and at around 3 in the morning I was dilated to a 6. At this point I started feeling the contractions and decided to go for a walk around the hospital with Kaile cause they said it might help. After my walk the contractions were 10 times worse so I finally asked for an epidural! The epidural was quick and painless. My legs and lower back felt heavy but I couldn't feel any pain. I then tried to sleep some more and when the nurse checked on me again I had stopped progressing so they started me on Pitocin.
I started to progress again and by 12:30 p.m. I was completely dilated. I started pushing at around 1 and Kaile was my counter. At around 2 Dr. Watson came in and said "Lets get this baby out". After another 20 minutes of pushing he still wasn't out and I was exhausted so Dr. Watson did an episiotomy. I gave another couple pushes and at 2:22 p.m. on August 7th Brecken Wade Myrick was born.
I heard him cry and then I started to cry. I just couldn't believe that after 9 months my little boy was finally here. It was so surreal and all I wanted to do was hold him. He weighed 7 lb. 13 oz and was 20 inches long. His apgar scores were high and he was born with a full head of hair. They brought him over to me and I couldn't believe how perfect he was. Kaile and I held him and kissed him and just felt so much love for him and for each other.
